Business studies curriculum

Students will have the option to pick business studies as a specialist GCSE subject at Key Stage 4. It is an exciting and challenging course.  It introduces students to the dynamic world of business.  It covers a broad range of topics that are designed to provide them with a knowledge and understanding that underpins the modern business.   We aim to provide a rewarding and interactive learning experience for all students at all levels.  The business studies department at HPFS is dedicated to helping students to become enterprising, think creatively and commercially and to equip students with the foundations required to pursue a career in business.

GCSE EDEXCEL

The qualification is linear.  Linear means that students will sit all their exams at the end of the course.  The GCSE is broken into two papers both carry equal weight.

Paper 1:

Written Exam:  1 hour 30 minutes.     90 Marks.      50% of GCSE.

Paper 2:   

How it’s Assessed – Theme 2: Building a business

  • Growing a business
  • Marketing
  • Operations
  • Finance
  • Human resource

Written Exam: 1 hour 30 minutes.  90 Marks.   50% of GCSE.
