The Primary Day
Doors open in Primary at 8.45am (and at 8.55am for Reception.) We close the doors at 9.00am sharp, as all children are expected to be in their classrooms by then to begin their learning. Children arriving in the classroom before 9 am will be working on a “morning task” so the earlier the child arrives the more they will get out of their start to the day. The day starts with this morning task and then follows a class timetable for the remainder of the day. Children have an hour for lunch (45 minutes for Year 5 and 6), which includes eating a hot meal or a packed lunch in the Ballroom. The day finishes between 3.15pm and 3.30pm Monday to Thursday and from 2.00pm to 2.15pm on a Friday. Please see phase pages for timings for each class.
Drop Off and Collection
When dropping children off, Reception children use the door to their classroom, off the triangular playground. All other children go in through the Primary entrance (the entrance to the left of the main entrance as you look at the school.) The Primary door is open for fifteen minutes to allow all children to come in without rushing.
At the end of the day, Reception children are collected from the triangular playground. Years 1 and 2 leave via the Primary Entrance, as do Years 3 and 4. Years 5 and 6 go out through the Secondary entrance and staff accompany them out of the door. Until the end of Year 4, teachers make sure that they have sighted a parent or carer at pick up before allowing children to leave.
If you need to drive to school, there is a Park and Stride car park nearby which parents and carers can use. More information about parking at Heyford Park Free School
Children wear full school uniform, however, on each class’ PE day, children wear their PE kit to school.
Wraparound provision is available from 7.45am until 6 pm and more information click here.
