Upper Key Stage 2

VISION

Upper key stage 2 (Years 5 and 6) sees the culmination of the primary phase of education for the children. Both years have a strong academic focus on English and Maths to help children to further develop skills across those two core subjects. Learning is often shaped by a topic, book or theme and is driven by our desire for the children to always be curious, creative and collaborative. To ensure the children receive a broad curriculum we cover a range of subjects including science, geography, history, art, technology, computing, music and PE. We use our PSHE sessions to provide different opportunities to learn about ourselves, our friends, our world and how to stay safe and healthy, as we get older. As the children are becoming more mature, they gain more opportunities to show responsibility across the school and we incorporate independent and collaborative learning into our lessons.

Our team are always ready to help both with academic problems and also any social issues. Our restorative approach to these issues helps everyone to see both sides of any disputes.

Regular assessments allow us to monitor closely children’s progress and to identify any child who may need extra help and support. For Year 6, the National Tests (SATs) will take place in May.
