EYFS

VISION

At Heyford Park Free School the EYFS curriculum is tailored to meet and support the needs and interests of individual children. Quality interaction and open ended opportunities promote children’s curiosity, creativity and independence in learning, both indoors and out.

We use “Letters and Sounds” as our basis for phonics from EYFS through to Year 1.  This works in conjunction with the Oxford Reading Tree scheme, which we supplement with additional texts.  We also use the Jolly Phonics actions and songs in Nursery and Reception to reinforce the sounds in the order we teach them in “Letters and Sounds”.  This also helps children with SEND, particularly those with speech difficulties, to demonstrate their learning and understanding.  In Years 1 and 2, some children are introduced to aspects of “Read Write Inc” to broaden their experiences and to aid those who may need an alternative approach.  At this point, some of the “Read Write Inc.” books are incorporated.
