Sports Premium

Sports Premium Funding

Last year (2017-18) we made changes to our provision and used the Sports Premium Funding to:
  • Increase the number of extra-curricular clubs open to children from one sporting club to 6, many with a sporting theme.  50% of children accessed at least one of these.
  • Increase the amount of exercise children get at school, with regular 30-minute fitness slots
  • Got involved with cluster competitions with every child from Year 1 being involved in at least one cluster event
  • Support primary staff with time from secondary PE specialists
In 2018-19, we will continue to improve our provision and use the Sports Premium Funding to:
  • Increase the confidence of staff in teaching a variety of sports, through training opportunities and using the expertise of our secondary PE staff
  • Increase the time allocated to fitness, by increasing these sessions to three a week of 30 minutes a session, in addition to the weekly PE lesson (1 hour)
  • Develop outdoor play equipment at break and lunch times
  • Teach children a variety of traditional games to help them make the most of active lunch times
  • Further increase the provision of extra-curricular sports clubs, delivered by qualified staff, including some partly-funded places or free short courses for disadvantaged pupils.
  • Use of membership of the North Oxfordshire School Sports Partnership to engage all our primary children in at least one cluster event this year, and to begin sending selected children to team events
  • Take children in Years 3 and above to the Specialisms’ Campus once a week to use the sports facilities there
  • Continue to take Years 3 and above swimming for a block of lessons during the year
  • Encourage those who are not naturally active to take part in different sports and activities
